Encourage Youth Award

The Encourage Youth Award is an aid initiative to support students whose status equates to unaccompanied youth or the possibility of being homeless. You must be documented by CCSD Title I Hope Liaison, HUD, or Director of Homeless Shelter or Transitional Housing. This ends when student becomes at the age of 26 years old.

Terms Available: Fall and Spring Terms Only. Not offered during the summer Term.

There is no application process for the Encourage Youth Award program. Eligible students will be provided to CSN’s Office of Financial Aid Scholarship Department.

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Must complete the current year FAFSA application Enrolled at CSN in an eligible degree or certificate.
  • Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • Classified as a Nevada Resident by CSN’s Office of the Registrar
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of half-time.
  • Student status is approved by one or more of the following: CCSD Title 1 Hope, HUD documentation, or the Foster Tuition waiver.

 Application Steps: 

  • The student does not need to apply; eligible students will be identified and awarded each term.

Scholarship Notification Timeline: 

  • Recipients will be notified through MyCSN Communication Center - Aid Notification or via email approximately 2 months from the student’s semester start date.

Important Details:

  • Award amounts will be determined and adjusted according to enrollment status

Term Aid Amount:

  • 12 credits or more (full time): $1000
  • 9 to 11 Credits $750
  • 6 to 8 Credits $500
