COVID-19

Positive COVID-19 Case or Exposure

On March 1, 2024, the CDC updated its isolation guidance for COVID-19. The new guidance aligns with other respiratory viral illnesses like flu and RSV. As part of these changes, the CDC no longer recommends 5 days of home isolation after a positive COVID-19 test. Instead, they have introduced a symptoms-based approach.

Under this new guidance, individuals can end home isolation and return to campus if their symptoms are improving, and they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.

If You are Sick

  • Students who are ill with respiratory symptoms should work with their instructors on short-term arrangements to stay on track. They should return to campus when feeling well enough to participate in routine activities and have been fever-free for at least 24 hours. Students who may require longer-term accommodations should contact the Disability Resource Center (DRC).
  • Faculty and staff who are ill with respiratory symptoms should notify their supervisor, department chair, or dean. They should return to work when feeling well enough to participate in routine activities and have been fever-free for at least 24 hours. Employees should use sick time for COVID-related leave or to care for their household members.

If You Were Exposed to COVID-19

The CDC no longer recommends quarantine for those who have been exposed to COVID-19. As long as you’re not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, you do not need to quarantine and can come to campus. Monitor yourself for symptoms and stay home if you begin to feel sick.

Reporting Cases and Exposure

At this time, CSN Wellness is not collecting positive case reports or tracking COVID-19 cases on campus. The team will continue to support the CSN community and provide guidance. If you have questions or need assistance regarding COVID-19 wellness@csn.edu.

COVID-19 related PPE and supplies are still available to departments, while the supplies last, via the online PPE Ordering System. Please only order what your department/area needs for about a month period of time and avoid stockpiling.

As the Covid-19 pandemic situation improved and is no longer considered to be a Federal and Global Public Health Emergency, CSN discontinued resupplying the COVID-19 PPE inventory. If an item is no longer in stock and a department wishes to continue implementing COVID-19 cleaning and disinfecting protocols, the department can acquire its own supplies; note that all chemical purchases will need to be approved before the fact by the EHS with the EHS New Chemical and Restricted Commodity Approval Form found on the EHS webpage.

  • Free masks are available to students at the student government desks.
  • Hand sanitizing stations have been installed near building entrances and will remain available and stocked.
