As a CSN student, you have certain rights and responsibilities which must be observed AT ALL TIMES during your enrollment at CSN.

Please take the time to familiarize yourself with our Student Code of Conduct.

On Campus

The College of Southern Nevada considers the safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors to be of the highest priority. We encourage you to review and explore all the safety-related links and resources below:

Las Vegas

Las Vegas is considered a safe place to live, work and attend school. CSN recommends observing common-sense safety practices to sure that students can fully enjoy living in Las Vegas. Below are some tips and best practices that may help students thrive during their time at CSN:

  • Practice mindfulness and remain aware of your surroundings
  • Leave or avoid situations in which you feel uncomfortable
  • Explore new areas with your friends during normal business hours until you become familiar with the city and neighborhoods

Dial 911 if you feel threatened or unsafe.

Las Vegas is known as the entertainment capital of the world for good reason. The Las Vegas Strip is home to casinos, live entertainment, theatre, shopping, and fine dining- to name a few. Students can find hiking trails, water sports, camping, and natural wonders within the surrounding areas of the Las Vegas valley.

A variety of national parks and attractions are within a one-day drive of the CSN campus including the Grand Canyon and beaches of Southern California.

Las Vegas is very international and if you open your ears, heart, and mind, you will be amazed at the diversity here.

Buses: The Las Vegas bus system is called RTC.  A current fare and time schedule can be found at rtcsnv.com.

CSN students can purchase discounted RTC bus passes at the CSN Bookstores.

Taxi: There are many taxi companies in Las Vegas, and they are much more expensive than taking the bus.  It is customary to pay the driver 15% of the fare as a "tip".

Uber and Lyft: Are rideshare services that connect through their cell phone app. Cars are newer, cleaner, and sometimes cheaper than a taxi.  Search for the Uber or Lyft application in the app store on your mobile device and download the application of your choice.

Rental Car: Cars are available to rent for drivers possessing a valid U.S. driver’s license and can be reserved at daily, weekend, weekly or monthly rates.  Minimum age requirements may apply* and a major credit card is typically required to make a reservation.

*The typical age for renting a car in the United States is 25 years of age. Policies vary by company.
