Full Stem Ahead Award Program

Welcome and thank you for visiting the information page for the new to CSN "Full STEM Ahead" Award Program!

Tell me about STEM!

STEM is an interdisciplinary, applied approach to learning science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM careers are in high demand and CSN is working to meet Southern Nevada's need. In October 2018, the Nevada Governor's Office of Science, Innovation and Technology awarded CSN a four year grant to directly address the need to increase the number of students who declare degrees in the STEM fields, to complete their degree, and ultimately enter the workforce in a STEM related job in our community. For more information, visit our STEM page.

What is the Full STEM Ahead Award Program?

The "Full STEM Ahead Award Program" is a new award program generously funded by the CSN Innovation & Impact Fund. The program will connect new to CSN, Black and African-American students, with a paid professional opportunity to engage with faculty and staff at CSN. The new to CSN students will be pursuing or be interested in a STEM related area of study or major!

In the "Full STEM Ahead Award Program", students will be paired with a faculty or staff member "host supervisor" for their personalized and paid professional opportunity at CSN for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022. The professional opportunity will support student transition to college, intentional connection to the STEM field, and provide additional engagement with leadership development, campus life and first year experiences.
