Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning

Welcome to the new CSN Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning!

With great teaching, students succeed.” Association of College and University Educators (ACUE)

The Faculty Center connects CSN faculty with resources, upcoming events and opportunities, and recognition of excellence in teaching and learning. Developed by faculty, for faculty, the Faculty Center reflects CSN’s commitment to supporting educators and fostering a collaborative community focused on student success.

Throughout the Faculty Center website, you’ll also find professional development opportunities, upcoming faculty programming and events, and recognition of excellence in teaching and learning.

Like teaching itself, the Faculty Center will continue to grow and evolve as we explore new ideas, learn from experience, and respond to the needs of CSN faculty. Check back often for new programs, resources, opportunities and updates.

During the development of the proposal for a new Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, discussions highlighted the need for shifting the culture around teaching and learning at CSN through the implementation of a New Faculty Institute (NFI) to build a knowledge base and capacity. This is intended to not only support new faculty in adjusting to their roles, but also strengthen the classroom experience for students.

New Faculty Institute cohorts engage in extended orientation and comprehensive preparation for their new faculty roles. Initial offerings may include connections to campus resources and profiles of student demographics, as well as opportunities for course development, mentorship, and learner engagement.

The NFI will have synchronous meetings and asynchronous resources to support new faculty across appointment types. If you are a new faculty member, please watch your email for your invitation (or reach out directly for your invite). If you are a department chair, dean, or other faculty member or interested member of the CSN community, please reach out for more information on this program to the Faculty Center Director.

Innovators Club

Across higher education, faculty are rarely recognized or incentivized to innovate in their courses and teaching. This program provides a supportive space to develop and implement new instructional strategies, reflect on the experience, and learn from colleagues across disciplines. By recognizing both innovation and the value of learning from initial challenges, the program aims to foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and knowledge sharing through the Faculty Center.
