Financial Aid Appeals

What is an appeal?

The amount of aid a student can receive is based on the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the 2022-2023 FAFSA application and the student's Cost of Attendance (COA). The appeal process will recalculate the EFC or re-evaluate the estimated expenses to determine if the student may have additional financial aid eligibility.

Who should appeal?

Request for Adjustments to Cost of Attendance

Any student in a specialty program that requires additional tools, equipment, or expenses that are not otherwise incurred by other students.

Any student whose 2022-2023 Cost of Attendance budget has negatively impacted their ability to receive additional loan assistance or other financial aid (i.e., scholarship).

PLEASE NOTE: A successful appeal only increases a student’s budget, it does not provide additional aid.

Request for Consideration of Special Circumstances

Any independent student whose circumstances, or dependent student’s family’s circumstances, have changed due to loss of benefit or income, death, divorce, or extraordinary expenses or situations since completing the 2022-2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

What is the appeal process?

Complete the appeal form on the link above and submit it to the Office of Financial Aid for review.
Submissions will be reviewed; if further documentation is needed, you will be contacted.
A communication will be sent to your official CSN email address when a decision is made.
