Steps to Check your Course Eligibility
Financial Aid can only pay for classes that are required for the successful completion of your declared degree. We suggest that students check their course eligibility regularly. You can do this by following these steps.
Log into your MyCSN portal.
Under the FINANCES section, go to the View Financial Aid hyperlink and click it.
You will see the Select Aid Year to View screen. Select the current financial aid/academic year.
Under the specific term (semester), you will see a View Course Eligibility hyperlink.
The View Course Eligibility link will show what courses are considered eligible or ineligible.
The Fin Aid Eligible Units should reflect the number of credits for the course you have enrolled into. If a course is not eligible, it will show 0.00. If the Fin Aid Eligible Units are less than the total credit hours for a class (e.g., only 2 credits out of 3 credits are eligible, it will show that number).
If one or more of your classes do not count towards your declared degree, it could be because:
- The requirements have been satisfied by prior credits
- The course is not required for your degree
- Repeating a previously passed course (with a grade of D- through A)
If you believe that your courses should be eligible for financial aid, please contact an academic advisor or counselor.
If you have already received a letter indicating that one or more of your classes are not eligible for financial aid, please follow the directions and complete the appeal form.
