What is Reverse Transfer?
Students who earned 15 or more credits at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) but transferred out before completing their degree can now earn an Associate of Arts, Business, Science, or General Studies from CSN when they “reverse transfer” their college or university credits while pursuing a bachelor’s at a four-year Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institution.
Why is an Associate Degree important?
The completion of an associate degree is also the first step to achieving academic success, recognized by transfer, graduate and professional institutions. It is also an important academic achievement valued by employers. The associate degree can also make a difference in your long-term success. How?
1. You would collect the nation’s fastest growing work credential recognized by employers.
2. You would achieve an educational milestone FREE while pursuing your bachelor’s degree.
3. You become more marketable and qualify for better job opportunities while completing your bachelor’s degree.
4. With an associate degree, you become part of the group of students who, according to national data, are 70 percent more likely to complete their bachelor’s degree.
Eligible to earn an Associate Degree from the College of Southern Nevada?
Please complete our Electronic Reverse Transfer Agreement Release Form. Make sure to indicate the appropriate NSHE institution CSN must contact to request your electronic transcript(s) at no cost to you.
NOTE: The reverse transfer student may earn an Associate of Arts (AA), an Associate of Business (AB), an Associate of Science (AS), or an Associate of General Studies (AGS) ONLY, none of which may have been the student’s declared program of study while attending CSN.
Reverse transfer processing can take up to eight weeks for evaluation. You will be notified via email of the outcome whether you have earned the Associate of Arts (AA), the Associate of Business (AB), the Associate of Science (AS), or the Associate of General Studies (AGS). Applying for a reverse transfer DOES NOT guarantee the award of a diploma, as reverse credits, together with coursework taken at CSN, must meet degree requirements for either an AA, an AS, an AB or AGS.
If you are attending an institution outside of Nevada, you may still qualify for reverse transfer by completing and submitting the Electronic Reverse Transfer Agreement Release Form. However, it is your responsibility to request an official transcript from the out-of-state institution and have it sent to CSN. There may be an out-of-pocket expense associated with the transcript request. Mail official transcript(s) to:
