Welcome from Dr. Sonya Pearson, Ph.D., J.D.

Dr. Sonya Pearson

Dear CSN Community:

This past year we faced many challenges with uncertainty; and while we experienced loss, we were able to work together to support and serve our students, community, and partners. With demonstrated resiliency, we were able to offer financial relief to students in need, utilize creativity and innovation to offer remote services, build new alliances and partnerships, and celebrate our largest graduating class with over three thousand students. Kudos to the CSN family for achieving in such insurmountable odds!

While the unknown is yet before us, we have taken the time to plan and prepare for your safe return to campus. We have set our student services and campus classrooms as high priority to ensure the safety of all, as we continue our collaboration with the Nevada Health District. We will be embarking on a campus beautification project that will enhance the vibrancy of CSN and the West Charleston campus. Lastly, we are continuing to move forward with our multicampus migration and working collaboratively as we support our students, staff, faculty, and community stakeholders. We will continue to uphold our legacy of excellence and commitment to servant leadership by embracing diversity and celebrating 50 years of service to our community, all while seeking new opportunities for collaborative partnerships. For those of you that are new to the Charleston Campus, I want to inform you that we provide one of three, one-stop resource centers located in the Student Union that can assist you with both your personal and professional needs. Whether your goal is to enhance job skills, earn a 2-year degree, or complete courses to transfer to a 4-year institution, we are ready to assist with scheduling (including day, evening, and online classes) to make achieving your college goals attainable.

As Campus Vice President, I welcome each of you back and encourage you to make the most of your time by taking advantage of all the wonderful opportunities and services available to you. Please know that we welcome your feedback. If you have ideas or suggestions to make our campus an even better place, then please visit the following link at the West Charleston Campus Feedback Survey. Again, welcome to CSN Charleston campus; where we are CSN strong and where we “empower our students and communities to achieve, succeed, and prosper!
